The Delhi police has detained two 17-year-old youth on Tuesday, in connection with the escape of a gangster, Jitender Gogi, from police custody while being taken to a court in Haryana, by his associates who had also looted a police MP 5 gun from the escort party last month.
A total of ten associates of the gangster were inv-olved in his escape by throwing red chilli powd-er in the eyes of four Delhi police constables who were escorting him in a Haryana roadways bus to a court in Narwana (Jind) from Tihar on July 30.
Out of ten accused who were actively involved in Gogi’s escape from the police custody, the identity of eight was established. Four of them, including a national level junior boxing champion Deepak Boxer and a national level athlete Praveen, were already arrested by the police.
“Identity of two accused belonging to U.P was worked out by Crime Branch after much effort and both, aged around 17 years, were detained from Baraut in Baghpat district on August 12,” said joint commissioner Ravindra Yadav.
They were apprehended as juveniles as per CrPC provisions and their versions were recorded as per law, said the officer. The crime branch has so far arrested two accused Dee-pak Boxer and Praveen, besides apprehending the two UP juveniles.
Two other accused, Mohit, was arrested by northwest Delhi police while Sanjay Falla was arrested by outer district police earlier this month.
The escaped gangster Gogi, who has been engaged in a gang war with rival gang of Tillu Tajpuria in Alipur area of outer Delhi, is yet to be arrested by the police.
The three year old gangwar has claimed 4-5 lives so far of the members of both gangs. Before his escape Gogi was in Tihar prison while his rival Tillu is still inside Sonipat jail. With the escape of Gogi police fear revival of the gangwar.
