2 killed, 1 injured as roof collapses

A 50-year-old woman and her 22-year-old son died while a man was severely injured after a part of the roof of an adjoining building fell on them while they were sleeping on the terrace of their house

A 50-year-old woman and her 22-year-old son died while a man was severely injured after a part of the roof of an adjoining building fell on them while they were sleeping on the terrace of their house in Outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar in the early hours of Thursday.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 5:30 am. Amula (55) died on the spot while her son Rajesh (22) succumbed to injuries in a nearby hospital. The injured has been identified as Kalicharan (55). The locals who woke up on hearing a loud noise had informed the police and the fire department. Fire department officials said it took around 30 minutes for the rescue team to pull out the duo trapped under the debris.

A case of negligence was registered at the Aman Vihar police station against the owner of the adjoining house whose roof collapsed. The district magistrate and sub-divisional magistrate of Rohini went to the spot and announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the kin of the victims and Rs 50,000 for the injured. Further investigation is on.
