A 19-year-old girl hanged herself from the ceiling fan at her residence in Vasant Kunj after she was allegedly molested and brutally beaten up by a youth who was stalking her for the past one month in South Delhi’s Kishangarh area on Tuesday evening.

According to the girl’s sister, the deceased worked as a beautician and was returning home around 6:30 pm on Tuesday evening after attending to a nearby woman when the youth, Neeraj, started abusing her. Neeraj, along with his four friends, in an inebriated condition dragged her to a forested area and brutally thrashed her.

“She was being mentally harassed by Neeraj for the past one month. Moreover, he had started threatening my sister to meet him or else he would do something terrible to her. She was very stressed by his threats. Apart from repeated calls, he sent her objectionable text messages,” the girl’s sister said.

“There were injuries on her body. She was crying when I saw her running to our house. When I asked her who was responsible for it, she could not stop crying and locked herself in a room,” the girl’s sister added.. Later, when her sister and their mother, who works as a guard at a shopping mall, reached home, they found the 19-year-old hanging in her room.

Meanwhile, the police registered a case against the accused at the Vasant Kunj police station and arrested Neeraj under relevant sections of the IPC on Tuesday. Further investigation is underway.
