A 19-year-old girl was shot and injured by burglars after she tried raise an alarm during a burglary at an electronics shop at Basrurkar Market in south Delhi’s Moti Bagh area in the intervening night

A 19-year-old girl was shot and injured by burglars after she tried raise an alarm during a burglary at an electronics shop at Basrurkar Market in south Delhi’s Moti Bagh area in the intervening night of Saturday.

The police said that the girl, identified as Neeru, was sleeping in a mother dairy outlet with her parents when she woke up by sound of dogs barking in the area.

When she steeped out of the outlet, Neeru saw some men taking away LCD TV and other electronic items from M.K. Electronics in the vicinity.

While the men were loading the electronic products in their car, she raised an alarm and the burglars allegedly fired two rounds at her.

The burglars fled the spot with television sets worth several lakhs.

As per the statements of M.K. Electronics, electronics worth Rs 25 lakh have been stolen from the shop, the police said.

According to the police, it got a PCR call at 2:58 am after which the police rushed the girl to the AIIMS trauma centre and her condition is said to be stable.

A case under Sections 457 (lurking house trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment), 380 (theft in dwelling house) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Arms Act have been registered at the South Campus police station against unknown persons, the police said.

The police is also scanning CCTV footages of the area to establish the identity of the culprits and also the vehicle which was used in the crime.
