Fans of Rajinikanth are up in arms against DMDK founder Vijayakanth following the latter’s boasting at a poll rally that he had more guts than the superstar. Addressing the PWA campaign rally at Villivakkam late Friday evening, “Captain” Vijayakanth declared he would not be cowed down by anyone threatening him. “At the time of release of movie Gajendra (2004), PMK leader Ramadoss threatened me. But I am not the type who is afraid of such threats. Vijayakanth is not afraid of anybody. Vijayakanth is afraid of only good people with good hearts. I will not withdraw like Rajinikanth. He will stay away from unnecessary fights,” he said to the loud cheering from the crowd.
Captain’s boasting has upset Rajini’s fans, who burnt his effigies at Menambal Nagar in Kodungaiyur in north Chennai. “Had the superstar wanted, he would have become the Prime Minister of India. That is the public support he enjoys. But he opted to take the spiritual route. Vijayakanth should have not insulted our superstar just to create some excitement in his election campaign,” said a Rajini fan at the agitation site. The agitations by Rajini fans are few at the moment and it remains to be seen if Captain will say something soon to calm down those tempers.
