Women leaders to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and success stories across industries.

New Delhi: TiE Delhi-NCR, amongst the most active and vibrant chapter of the vast TiE global network, is geared to host Women Entrepreneurship : New Horizons 2019 on September 6, 2019 at Welcom Hotel Sheraton in Saket, New Delhi. The conference will bring together leading women entrepreneurs, industry leaders, aspiring innovators and other key stakeholders of the Indian start-up ecosystem under one roof to hold insightful, knowledge-sharing sessions. Through this event, TiE Delhi-NCR aims to provide an interactive platform for women leaders  across diverse genres in the country to guide, empower and accelarate the next generation of female entrepreneurs.

Over the years, numerous success stories have emerged where women have been able to surpass  various socio-cultural barriers – such as gender discrimination, gender disparity and unequal representation – to make a space for themselves across primarily male-dominated fields, disciplines, professions etc. Entrepreneurship in India is one such domain where the gender gap stands in stark contrast. Despite boasting the third-largest start-up ecosystem in the world, women business owners in the country comprise only 14% of the total volume. Against such a backdrop, successful women leaders have the power to inspire, encourage and empower more high-calibre women with a vision to follow suit.

The mission of TiE Delhi-NCR – along with its ancillary special interest group for women entrepreneurs (SIGWE) – falls in line with this idea and the latest edition of New Horizons will stand as its most vibrant manifestation till date.

Geetika Dayal, Executive Director – TiE Delhi-NCR, said, “Various reports keep emerging that assert how increased participation of women can help unlock success opportunities for organizations as well as nations across all spheres. For instance, a 2018 IMF study argues that enabling women’s skill development will not only create employment opportunities but also cause the country’s GDP to grow by 6.8 per cent. Therefore, as enablers of the Indian start-up ecosystem, our mission is to unlock these projected growth prospects by empowering female entrepreneurs by offering them funding, mentorship, and networking opportunities.”

Speaking about the event Neha Verma Co-Founder & Director at Whisskers Marketing, said “Being part of the start-up ecosystem, the gender gap is clearly evident. It is found that women constitute only 13.76 per cent of the total entrepreneurs in India. Having said that, I have personally come across quite a few women who are smart, talented and ambitious and want to do something of their own. These are women who want to move out of corporate, want to come back from a long maternity leave or homemakers wanting to try something new.  At the same time, women facing challenges while running an existing business are also welcome. There are hands on workshops held on marketing which can help one in setting up a stable revenue stream and also in scaling up.”
