Scorpio fan gets a gift from Mahindra

Mr Anand Mahindra, chairman of the leading auto manufacturer, has gifted the owner-driver, Sunil, hailing from Thiruvalla, a mini-truck.

Kochi: The modification done to an autorickshaw to look like a Mahindra Scorpio has brought its driver an unexpected bonanza. Mr Anand Mahindra, chairman of the leading auto manufacturer, has gifted the owner-driver, Sunil, hailing from Thiruvalla, a mini-truck.

The Supro mini truck worth Rs 4 lakh was handed over to him at a Mahindra showroom in the state the other day.

The picture of the altered auto had gone  viral on the social media  and a Twitter user alerted Anand Mahindra about it.

Mr Mahindra launched a manhunt on Twitter and the Twitteratti within days found him.

The altered auto is now resting at Mahindra’s museum.

“I am so happy that I got a truck for a modified auto. I haven’t decided what to do with it. I have a job in a hotel and so I have to plan what to do with the truck,” said Sunil.

The episode was catalogued on Twitter by Mr Anand Mahindra which caught national attention.  

Anil Panicker, deputy general manager with the Mahindra group in Hyderabad, initially made the tweet to Mr Anand. “I am a fan of modified vehicles. When I came across the modified auto, I just tweeted it for fun. Luckily, Mr Anand responded and the guy received a Supro mini truck,” he said.
