The e-commerce market in India is likely to touch $38-billion mark in 2016, posting a 67 per cent jump over the last year, according to an industry study. It was around $23 billion in 2015.

“Increasing internet and mobile penetration, growing acceptability of online payments and favourable demographics has provided the e-commerce sector in India the unique opportunity,” said an Assocham paper.

It said that Mumbai-kars topped in India shopping online in 2015. While Delhiiets ranks second, Ahmedabad third, Bengaluru fourth and Kolkata fifth in their preference for online shopping in 2015, said the chamber.
