There were rumours about Bajaj planning to launch the VS400 before the festive season. However, these have turned out to be false. According to company officials, the launch has been delayed and it might be scheduled after the festive season. In a discussion with Moneycontrol, S. Ravikumar, president -- business development, Bajaj Auto, revealed that the company is focusing on the festive demand and has decided to push the 400cc Pulsar’s launch to a later date.
When asked about the launch of the VS400, S Ravikumar said, \"Number one is this festival, the entire industry is looking at a good set of numbers and there is a lot of activity which is happening there in the supply chain and the factories and we thought that this is very important. So, we are now concentrating deliberately by design. We have pushed the Pulsar launch to a later date, exact date we will announce a bit later, but right now, this and next month, we are going to be concentrating on feeding the festive demand.\"
When we inquired to some of the Bajaj dealers across the country, they also told us that they weren’t expecting any high-end model till this Diwali. As per the previous reports, the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar VS400 was on its TVC shoot in Ladakh and there it was also captured by many photographers. Taking reference from these spy pictures, people were claiming that the bike could be launched anytime soon. However, these speculations now have been denied with this statement.
The Bajaj Pulsar VS400 is the road-going model of the Pulsar CS400 concept which was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. The bike looks almost identical to the concept version and gets nominal changes like a split seat instead of the single contoured type and normal telescopic forks in the place of an USD (Up-Side Down) pair. Powering the flagship Bajaj is a KTM 390-inspired 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that has been tuned to deliver 34.5PS near 8,000rpm.
The Pulsar VS400 is expected to be priced somewhere between Rs 1.5 lakh ad Rs 1.7 lakh, and ABS might be introduced as an option extra. We believe that the pricing and features of the bike can make it a good option against other touring bikes like the Mahindra Mojo, KTM 200 Duke and the Royal Enfield motorcycles.
