The 1.5-litre CRDi diesel and 1.5-litre petrol engine is expected to make 115PS, and will only be offered with the Tech Line trim which will be available in five variants:

Kia’s debut product for India, the Seltos, is spicing things up in the compact SUV segment. It comes with premium styling, a long list of features and a handful of powertrain options. Previously, we had reported that it will come in two trims - GT Line and Tech Line. Now though, we have more information regarding the variants, list of features and the engine and gearbox options that will be offered in them.

The Seltos is expected to come in a total of eight variants and here’s what we know from a leaked document that recently surfaced on the internet. Note that this is not the final variant list as the credibility of the document is still under question.

The 1.5-litre CRDi diesel and 1.5-litre petrol engine is expected to make 115PS, and will only be offered with the Tech Line trim which will be available in five variants:

• HT E

• HT K

• HT K+

• HT X

• HT X+

The 1.4-litre Turbo GDI engine which puts out 140PS and 242Nm will only be offered in the GT Line trim which will be  available in three variants : 

• GT K 

• GT X 

• GTX+

HT E

HT E variant sits at the bottom of Seltos’ variant list. Expect this variant to be priced  aggressively in order to grab attention in the market. As for features, it is expected to come with rear AC vents, follow-me lamps, two airbags, UVO Lite, a 3.5-inch infotainment system, steering mounted controls, tilt adjustable steering and 16-inch steel wheels. According to the leaked document, this variant will get the option of all-wheel disc brakes as well. Also, this variant will only be offered with the 6-speed manual transmission. It misses out on all the notable features of the Seltos. But then, this being the entry-level variant, will serve the purpose of slotting the Seltos in the heart of the segment. 

 HT K

This variant will come with all the features from the HT E along with the addition of an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support and voice recognition. Like the HT E variant, the HT K is only available with the 6-speed manual transmission and optional all wheel disc brakes.

 HKT K+

The mid-spec HT K+ variant is different from the first two variants as it available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox as well. As we know that the 6-speed automatic gearbox is paired with the 1.5-litre CRDI diesel engine, it is clear that this variant will be offered with the diesel-automatic combination (no petrol-automatic combination). As for the exterior features, it comes with Heart Beat DRLs and 5-spoke 16-inch single-tone alloy wheels. Other additions over the HT E and HT K include LED sound mood lighting, cruise control, smart key with push button start, solar UV-cut glass, rear sunshade, driver auto touch up and down windows and Isofix child seat mounts. 

 

HT X

The HT X variant is available with both 1.5-litre engines. But unlike the HT K+ , the 1.5-litre diesel is only available with the 6-speed manual while the 1.5-litre petrol engine can be had with both manual and CVT options. Feature additions on the HT X variant include lots of chrome elements, crown jewel headlights with LED DRLs, fog lamps,  lightbar, 10 spoke 17-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, ambient lighting, tilt and telescopic steering, height adjustable seatbelts, 10.25-inch infotainment system with UVO Connect, automatic AC, smart air purifier, 60:40 split seats that can be reclined, air purifier, and  all wheel disc brakes. It also comes with a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) , an anti glare IRVM, and auto headlamps. 

HT X+

The range-topping variant in the Tech Line trim is only available with  the 1.5-litre CRDI diesel engine paired with the 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox. Additions over the HT X include an 8-way power adjustable driver seat, an advanced seven colour display panel, Bose 8-speaker sound system, ventilated seats, smart air purifier, a sunroof, wireless charger, and front and rear parking  sensors.

 

GT K

The GT Line trim is the sportier looking of the duo with contrasting red additions to give it that extra character. The interiors also get a similar treatment with red stitching and dedicated GT Line embossing. The base GT K variant comes with chrome additions, crown jewel headlights with LED DRLs, fog lamps, lightbar and tail lamps. It is similarly loaded as the HT X variant but misses out on ambient lighting, UVO Connect, TPMS and smart air purifier. But it gets all the other bells and whistles along with the 1.4-litre Turbo GDI petrol engine, albeit only with the 6-speed manual gearbox.

 GT X 

The GTX variant is the most important variant here as it exclusively comes with the option of the 7-speed DCT along with the 1.4-litre GDI engine. It’s amply loaded and comes with all the features from the GT K variant along with other additions like 17-inch dual-tone machine finished alloy wheels, ambient lighting, a smart head-up display, a 7-inch colour display panel, a 10.25-inch infotainment system with UVO Connect, wireless charging, rain sensing wipers, smart air purifier, and drive modes. Safety additions include six airbags, traction control, hill assist, brake assist, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), and TPMS ( Tyre Pressure Monitoring System).

 GT X+

Oddly enough, even though the GT X+ is the top-spec variant, it doesn't come with the 7-speed DCT gearbox as it is only available with the 6-speed manual gearbox. What it gets instead are the Bose 8-speaker sound system, a sunroof, 360 degree camera, driving rearview mirror, blind view monitor, and front and rear parking sensors. 

While these details are not from the official sources, it does give us an overview of the features that each variant is likely to pack. The Kia Seltos is set to go on sale on August 22. So stay tuned to ZigWheels for more updates.
