Pune: Tata Motors-owned British luxury car maker Jaguar Land Rover on Tuesday introduced its new locally manufactured version of the Range Rover Velar SUV to take on market leader Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi in Asia's third biggest economy.

Priced at Rs 72.47 lakh at pan India showroom, the locally produced Range Rover Velar is now over Rs 16 lakh more affordable than before.

The new Range Rover Velar will compete with luxury SUVs like the Mercedes GLE Coupe, the BMW X6 and the Jaguar F-Pace on the Indian roads.

The locally-manufactured Range Rover Velar will be available in R-Dynamic S variant, with two engine options -- 2.0-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol.

The diesel motor will deliver 179 hp and 430 Nm of torque and the petrol mill will produce 250 hp and 365 Nm of torque. Both engines send power to all four wheels via an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
