Dealerships are already accepting bookings for the upcoming car for a token amount of Rs 51,000.

While some of the feature updates add to the Skoda Octavia’s charm, the split headlights are still splitting opinions.

The 2017 Skoda Octavia facelift will finally hit showrooms in India on July 13, 2017. If you like a more conservative look like that of the outgoing Octavia you might have reservations about the facelift. However, we have already driven the car in India and can assure you that under the skin there are lots of new goodies that make it a better car as compared to the outgoing model. Dealerships are already accepting bookings for the upcoming car for a token amount of Rs 51,000.

In terms of changes, the new Octavia gets a pair of split LED headlamps with underlining DRLs, a new front grille, redesigned bumpers, fog lamps and taillamp pattern. The 16-inch alloy wheels are also new but retain the same size. There are some changes inside the cabin as well. In the middle of the dashboard sits a larger 8-inch infotainment system. It uses capacitive touch (similar to smartphones) and feels more premium than before. Also, the car gets adaptive lighting and a new steering wheel. The interiors are dressed in beige and offer an airy feel, which is accentuated by the panoramic sunroof.

Mechanically, the car continues with the same engine options as before. You can choose from a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine coupled to the 7-Speed DSG transmission, 1.4-litre TSI petrol coupled to a 6-speed manual and a 2.0-litre diesel engine coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Prices of the Octavia are expected to remain close to the current model as the hike is expected to be absorbed by the impact of GST.
