She needs no introduction. Kareena Kapoor Khan, in a career spanning more than a decade, has given some exceptional performances. Not just her choice of roles, but the way she defied the rules of showbiz during her pregnancy is commendable. Kareena broke the age-old tradition of hiding her pregnancy and posed with elegance every time she appeared in front of the camera. She is now one of the hottest moms in the B-town and has no airs about it. In a candid conversation, the stunning Kareena Kapoor Khan reveals why she has kept her aloof from the social media and much more.

Fortunately, the term comeback was never applicable to you…
Honestly, that’s because there was just the gap of delivery and I was back to work. I found out I was pregnant when Ki & Ka released. So, there was no time for anything. I have always been active and Veere Di Wedding started before I had Taimur. After his birth, I finished the film. I believe that’s the reason people never used the term comeback.

Strangely, you are still not on the social media platform…are you scared of trolls?
I am not scared of the trolls and it is definitely not the reason for me not being part of that platform. Anyway, my life is on social media irrespective of whether I am there or not. I don’t need to constantly keep updating things about myself because I am not that kind of person. But I know that I am very much there.

Your weight loss journey, which seems quite taxing was inspirational. Do you plan to write a book on it?
I don’t post anything but it is still on social media. Can I sell that as a documentary? With the gym looks and the workout, we can make a full documentary series (laughs), from 88 kg till now. It has been a gradual process and I am happy that it’s taken its own time.

Goes On…
Of course, many people have approached me to pen my weight loss journey, to write a book about my pregnancy and post pregnancy. But not right now. I have not thought about whether I should write a book or not.

How difficult does is it to not get swayed by the industry’s glitz and glamour?
Most important are the people around you. And I have never taken success or failure too seriously; they are both part of life.  The idea is to focus on your work and the way you look, that’s the most important thing. Having not taken success too seriously has helped me take my failures in the same stride. So I am fine with that and I am lucky to have a support system. If I am going wrong I like people to come and tell me. I am not a delusional actor who doesn’t like to be guided. I am happy to have family, friends and a strong support system. There has to be a reality check from people also.

Your husband Saif is venturing into the digital platform with Sacred Games …what’s your take on it?
I hope people view it the way it is approached abroad. I think the biggest of stars are on digital platforms, so it’s content driven. I hope India gives it that kind respect because I find it amazing.  I can’t wait to go back home because I am chilling and watching Netflix all the time at home. That’s what everybody is doing. Saif is brave enough to explore different mediums.

Have you been approached for a web series or are you keen to explore it?
It has to be amazing again. I come from watching amazing shows on Netflix. The kinds of shows I like are Game of Thrones and The Crown. So if something of this sort on that platform comes to me I would love to do it.

As a mother do you get paranoid the way the Taimur is being captured every now and then?
He is only 17 months old. Once or twice is enough, but not the constant pictures for sure. Saif and I want him to lead as normal a life as possible and that’s the most important thing for him.

What made you sign up Veere Di Wedding?
The most important thing about Veere.. is the language of the film. It was one of the reasons I wanted to do it. It’s easy for me to be in a central part but I think its different for a mainstream actress to be a part of this movie. It’s not an award-winning performance film parse. I  had an interesting part in it. And it’s quite cool to make a film with four girls. The entire flavour of this film is different.
