Privacy concerns make youth shun sex health advice
Teens and young adults do not visit the doctor as they do not want to make it public
It is always difficult to talk about sex and reproductive health to family and friends but talking to a doctor is easier, we have always thought. While many people have sexual issues not many can muster up the courage to visit a doctor about it.
In a recent report, it has been found that young couples don’t feel comfortable to even doctors, as they don’t want to expose their problems. There are about seven percent of teen and young adults that find it difficult to talk because they are worried if the doctor will keep the information confidential. About one in five children in their late teens said they didn’t want to go as they were scared their parents would find out about it.
The study further indicates that the age group of 15-24 suffers from the most number of sexually transmitted diseases, according to report by upi.com. However, the government now has two new measures for confidentiality and one includes face-to-face interview.
