Shiv Visvanathan’s article Does GM food pass scientific muster (Feb. 4) is timely. The Genetic Engineering Approval Committee must carefully consider the application for commercialisation of GM mustard variety. Experts say that the risk of contamination from GM mustard is of an unprecedentedly high order while the government assures that the commercial release of GM mustard will not be approved without due process.
