Denying the paparazzi version of the name of Suresh Raina and Priyanka’s new-born baby girl, the cricketer’s family said that the naming will be done by a pandit in a traditional function.

“We haven’t chosen the baby’s name. The name will be decided by the panditji at a traditional naming ceremony to be held in India,” Suresh’s brother Dinesh clarified.

Jumping the gun, some reporters had announced a few days ago that the couple was blessed with a girl and even went to the extent of naming her Shreyanshi. Even Raina’s Wikipedia profile was updated with this latest ‘addition’.

“As soon as the news spread, I immediately spoke to Suresh in Amsterdam to confirm that the child is not born yet. I received a lot of calls and had to explain to all,” Dinesh said.

Raina’s daughter was finally born on Sunday. Since Priyanka is working in Holland, the new-born baby will have a Dutch passport. Explaining that Priyanka was fine and their mother Pervesh and his wife Neha were in Amsterdam to look after her, Dinesh said, “Suresh will return for the IPL immediately after his wife’s delivery.”
