Mumbai: The farm loan waiver scheme disbursements may begin in December as the data of more than one lakh accounts is yet to received, and a few more problems have been identified. The scrutiny of 77.28 lakh applications may be completed in two weeks, and then a list of eligible farmers will be prepared, and disbursement of money in the bank accounts will start, highly placed sources told the Asian Age.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had announced a loan waiver of Rs 34,000 crore and the first list of 8.4 lakh farmers was declared in Diwali. But there were many discrepancies found in the list. Facing criticism, the government cleared a list of 2.4 lakh farmers and Rs 4,000 crore was cleared for disbursements.

A major concern is discrepancies in the data of Aadhar numbers with the banks. Banks don’t have proper data of Aadhar numbers. However, the Information and Technology department decided to make adjustments ignoring mistakes in Aadhar data as they have already received the online applications submitted by the farmers.

During the dry run, new issues have been identified such as some farmers not disclosing all loans taken by their family members.

The government is giving a waiver of up to Rs 1.5 lakh to each family. Hence, a few farmers who have loans of more than Rs 1.5 lakh in the name of family members, have not disclosed all loans taken by them. Hence the data collected from the online application is not matching the data with banks.
