Kolkata: A woman was allegedly gangraped by four miscreants in front of her husband at Basanti in South 24 Parganas. On Tuesday night she was returning home in a van driven by her husband who sells snacks. On the way a gang of miscreants blocked their way and snatched Rs 1,200 in cash at Aat No Titkumar Khalpar area. They raped the woman then. 

When the victim's husband tried to resist them he was thrashed and was slashed with a sharp weapon. The gang fled from the spot soon. Finding the couple in unconscious state some villagers rescued them. The couple was taken to Basanti Grameen Hospital where the woman underwent medical test. Later her husband was shifted to Canning Sub Division Hospital as his condition worsened. The woman has lodged a complaint with the Basanti police station. A case on gang-rape charge has been initiated by the police. But none of the accused has been arrested so far. The police is hunting for the accused.
