Partha Chatterjee will still be a ‘kid’ to me, says estranged Mukul Roy

Kolkata: A day after quitting the Trinamul Congress, Rajya Sabha MP Mukul Roy has reiterated that Trinamul secretary general Partha Chatterjee would still be a ‘kid’ to him. 

He also affirmed that it would not matter what the education minister would call him or not. On Tuesday morning Mr Mukul  Roy visited Belur Math to offer prayer and to talk to some officials there. 

Asked about his resignation he said, “I am standing at a point. From that point of view, I have come here to talk to somebody. But I would not comment anything more now. I will only open my mouth after Durga Puja.” 

On Mr Chatterjee’s attack on him Mr Mukul Roy added, “Let him to say whatever he wishes to. It does not matter to me. I still consider him a kid.” Mr Mukul Roy however replied in the negative in question of whether Trinamul supremo and chief minister Mamata Banerjee called him or not. 

Resting all speculation Mr Mukul Roy quit the party on Monday morning adding credence to the possibility that he may join the BJP. He said he would resign as a Rajya Sabha MP after the Durga Puja. 

Mr Mukul Roy however kept it secret about why he quit the party and would resgion from the parliamentarian’s post. Stung by his announcement chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s party within few hours suspended for six years on the grounds of his indiscipline. While announcing Mr Mukul Roy’s suspension from the party Mr Chatterjee mocked him and described him as an old man.
