Pawan Ruia in CID remand for 2 more days

Kolkata: Industrialist Pawan Ruia has again been remanded in the custody of the criminal investigation department (CID) by the Barrackpore Court in North 24 Parganas.

This time he was shown as “arrested” by the CID and was booked in the case which was initiated on October 18 last year at the Dum Dum police station in connection with the looting of items from the Jessop factory.

Four accused were earlier arrested in the same case. On Sunday Mr Ruia was produced before the judge after his CID remand for two weeks in connection with the case of destruction of evidence by arson lodged by the ministry of railway ended. The CID prayed for two weeks’ remand for Mr Ruia for interrogation in the case of October 18.

The judge however granted only two days’ CID custody. This was also the third time in a row Mr Ruia was remanded in the custody of the state detective agency during his production in three separate cases. He will be produced at the same court on Tuesday. On December 10 last year the industrialist was arrested by the CID from his residence at Hazarat Nizamuddin in Sundar Nagar of New Delhi.
