Nagpur: The ‘problem’ Bor tigress that was to be shot down in a day or two following a high court order died due to electrocution by a farm fence in Navargaon village of Wardha district early Saturday morning.

The two-year-old Bram-hapuri tigress had reportedly travelled over 500km to reach its home in the Bor Tiger Reserve, Navargaon.

It is ironical that the tigress, which has been wandering in the same area for over three months and had attacked people, was killed while trying to cross an electrified farm fence, right after shoot-at-sight orders had been passed by the Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court. The bench had rejected two pleas filed against killing orders issued by forest department and ordered for its killing on Friday.

According to reports, the carcass of the tigress was located in a farm in Sindhi Vihiri owned by one Bhagwan Tekam, who has been arrested.
