In this unique exhibition, light was shined upon fabric and the result left people in awe.

An experimental art exhibition entitled ‘Game of Light’ by artist Charul Doshi was recently held in the capital. On wonders, what’s the experiment? Well, Doshi, in a unique twist, used light and fabric as mediums for her exhibited artwork. The artist reveals, “So, I selected linen cloth instead of canvas because linen cloth is translucent and I have not used any colours. I have only used layers of the same fabric. Also, I have installed a light inside the art-pieces, thus creating a dramatic artwork.”

Doshi is a contemporary and semi-abstract artist but she enjoys playing with different mediums. She has also used charcoal on canvas, oil on canvas, and acrylic on canvas. The artist has also worked with scrap metals, copper, and brass.

Talking about what kind of challenges she faced while creating the artwork, Doshi reveals, “One of the biggest challenges was to install the light inside the creation, cut the same fabric in double and triple layers, and then stitch it all together.”
