Modi reviews candidates’ list for poll-bound states
Five states — Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram — are scheduled to go to the polls in November-December
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with other senior party leaders, attended the BJP’s central election committee (CEC) meeting on Wednesday to deliberate on the year-end Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
The BJP leadership, according to party sources, discussed the feedback on the panel of candidates and the ground report of the Assembly seats in both the poll-bound states.
The CEC members, the sources said, took stock of the poll preparations, discussed feedback and assessed the party's strategy, including for selecting candidates.
Besides Modi, BJP president J.P. Nadda and Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, among other leaders, attended the party's central election committee meeting.

The BJP is in power only in Madhya Pradesh and is confident of winning back Rajasthan from the Congress. In Madhya Pradesh, the Congress is giving the ruling BJP a tough fight, while in Telangana, the party is putting up a strong fight against the ruling BRS.
In Chhattisgarh, the BJP is hoping that its poll campaign against the Bhupesh Baghel-led government over corruption, anti-incumbency and poor law and order situation will help in winning back the state that it lost to the Congress in 2018.
