Odisha receives investment proposals worth Rs 1 lakh crore

The state, on the second day of the Make in Odisha Conclave 2018, received investment proposals to the tune of around Rs 1 lakh crore.

Bhubaneswar: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday succeeded in coaxing country’s top industry leaders to make substantial investment in the state, a feat seen in political circles as a crucial strategic accomplishment. The state, on the second day of the Make in Odisha Conclave 2018, received investment proposals to the tune of around Rs 1 lakh crore.

The ruling BJD which has been facing criticism from the opposition BJP and Congress for “tardy” industrial growth in the state, is most likely to showcase the achievement during the run up to 2019 polls to win people’s confidence. Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani, Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekharan, Vedanta Resources chairman Anil Agarwal, JSPL chairman Naveen Jindal and Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla were participating in the session.
