Even as Aamir Khan has begun the pre-production activity on his film Laal Singh Chaddha, the race to play the heroine of the film has begun at a frenetic pace.

Aamir Khan announced that he was remaking Forrest Gump a couple of months ago and that the title of the film was Laal Singh Chaddha.  Post that, a bevy of young actresses have lined up to audition for the role earlier essayed by Robin Wright in Forrest Gump.

“First it was Kriti Sanon who had auditioned and her test went pretty well and then came in Yami Gautam who seems to have an edge over Kriti in the auditions because of her expressive face,” says a trade source.

“There have been many other actresses who have auditioned but are tight-lipped. Other auditions are also taking place to cast for the young Forrest Gump who is a very essential part of the film. If the young Chaddha is good, it will help Aamir’s senior character have the kind of an impact that Tom Hanks’ character had in the original,” adds the source.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is in the process of losing weight to play a much younger character in the film.
