Qualcomm’s new faster processor, the Snapdragon 865 is coming sooner than you think

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets are known for powering Android smartphones globally from the mid-range to the higher premium models. Now the company will reveal its next processor in another Tech Summit during December 3-5 in Hawaii.

While we don’t know pretty much anything about the new processor yet, it will likely be built on Samsung’s 7nm process, since the brand has ditched the older TSMC process since the Snapdragon 820 and 835. We could see two versions of the processor – a higher variant with support for 5G.

The 7nm FinFET process is expected to improve efficiency and power consumption on the new processor and the Korean company has wrapped up development of the quicker 5nm EUV manufacturing process. Before production, the company will first expand its EUV line in Hwaseong, South Korea, probably by the end of the year.
