Mumbai: With the ICC 2020 T20 World Cup is barely a year away, the excitement for the next mega-event is starting to pick up as the cricket fans, pundits, and experts have already started to predict the winner of the biggest show-piece in the shortest format.

After former England captain Michael Vaughan, former Australian wicket-keeper batsman, Adam Gilchrist has recently has come out with his own prediction. The Aussie legend has picked four teams, who are likely to be strong contenders for the title.

Recently, the former cricketer has stated that the 50-overs World Cup winner, England, runners-up New Zealand, semi-finalists India and Australia are going to be semi-finalists for next year’s T20 World Cup. However, he also cautioned that Pakistan cannot be written off so easily, since they are the number one ranked T20 team right now.

During a promotional event, the 47-year-old player told to Times Now, “Probably they (India) will be featuring in semi-finals and the finals. I can’t predict who is going to win but I suspect that the usual suspects like India, England, Australia, and New Zealand will probably make a long way, semi-finals of course.”

“Pakistan are the number one ranked team in the format, so you cannot rule them out. But T20 cricket is a bit of lottery so it is hard to predict the winner until the final runs are scored or wickets are taken,” the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman concluded.
