Two men fall off running train
Two friends, who might have been performing stunts aboard a running local train, fell off between Ghatkopar and Vikhroli and seriously injured themselves. The men were travelling on the footboard of the coach when they fell off.
A Kanjurmarg resident, who witnessed the incident, alerted the Kurla GRP. The duo was then rushed to Rajawadi Hospital with the help of police. According to the eyewitness, Raju Khan (20) and Amit Sidhu (20) were drunk when they boarded the train at Ghatkopar. They kept standing near the footboard, trying to touch the poles running parallel to the track. A few seconds later, Mr Khan’s leg slipped and he was about to fall off the train when Mr Sidhu, who tried to hold his hand and pull him back, fell off as well.
The police said, “The victims reside near Bhandup and were returning home after their night shift . They left their office at around 4:40 am and went to a hotel to drink. Around 6 am, they caught the train and fell down while attempting stunts. We admitted them to Rajawadi Hospital and the doctor said their condition is really critical. We have called their family members.”
The GRP PRO said, “They were performing stunts which is an offence and once they recover, a FIR will be registered against them if needed. We are investigating as to whether they were performing stunts or not.”
In a similar incident on December 2, Khopoli resident, Naresh Mahadu Patil, who was travelling in a CST-bound train, slipped and fell off the train between Kalwa and Thane stations, grievously injuring himself. He was rushed to the Thane Government Civil Hospital by co-passengers but doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival.
