NCP alleges corruption in procuring tabs for students

NCP has alleged corruption in procurement of tablets given to students of the BMC schools and threatened to go to court if the BMC administration does not investigate the issue.

NCP has alleged corruption in procurement of tablets given to students of the BMC schools and threatened to go to court if the BMC administration does not investigate the issue.

NCP corporator Saeeda Khan said, “BMC has claimed that Videocon tablets were distributed among students, but instead of that tablets of some other company with a name of BOLD were given. And the purchase was made at a higher price than compared to what the market price is supposed to be. A tablet that could be bought for Rs 2,500, the BMC purchased that same tablet for Rs 3,800.”

“The BMC administration is shying away from investigating a huge scam involved in the purchase of the tablets and the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance is in a way responsible for the scam has taken place during their rule in the corporation. We will go to the court and get justice if the action for investigation is not initiated against the culprits,” said NCP leader, Sachin Ahir.

“When it comes to distribution of tablets they were provided only for English and Marathi medium students, but Urdu and Hindi medium students were ignored. What is the logic for this bias,” questioned Ms Saeeda Khan.

However, Vinod Shelar, education committee member, standing committee member, said, “I will have to check what are the allegations the NCP is putting forth. I cannot comment on the issue right now.”
