A 17-year-old boy who was arrested on Saturday for allegedly injuring a couple has been released on bail. Meanwhile, the relatives of the victims demanded proper punishment for the accused.
According to police officials, the accused, who did not even have a driving licence, is a nephew of a BJP MP. On Saturday a few leaders from political parties were trying to intervene in the case, they said.
Madhubai Dholkia who suffered head injury in the incident, is still unconscious and will undergo surgery on Monday. Her husband, who was also injured, has recovered now.
The police said that the couple was going back home after completing their work on a construction site. The couple are residents of Mulund east Hariom nagar. After the accident, many people on the road voluntarily helped the victim and caught the minor, who was on his way to attend college in Mulund.
The accused, who was was driving a Ford car, could have damaged other vehicles too if he had lost complete control of the vehicle, the police said.
