Man kills cousin over illicit affair
A man killed his cousin out of suspicion that the latter had an illicit relationship with his wife, later confessing to his crime before the Pant Nagar police which arrested him.
The accused, one Ravindra Giri, surrendered himself to the police a week after he stabbed his cousin, Jitendra Giri (24), whom he had taken along for a party, on October 27. After murdering Jitendra, Ravindra packed his body in a big bag and threw it into a nullah.
PSI Kiran Patil said, “On October 28, Ravindra came with Jitendra’s wife to file a missing complaint of Jitendra.
We were searching for Jitendra for the past seven days. Overcome by guilt, on November 4, Ravindra confessed to his crime before his family and came to the police station.
He then showed us the spot where he threw Jitendra’s body. After conducting a search operation, we found Jitendra’s body 200 metre away in the nullah.”
Both the accused and the victim were rickshaw drivers and best friends. According to the police, Mr Ravindra suspected that Jitendra’s younger brother was having an illicit relationship with his wife.
He confronted Jitendra about the same but the latter ignored it. Ravindra then got angry and started suspecting that Jitendra himself might be having an affair with his wife which is when he decided to bump him off.
Ravindra was arrested under IPC Section 302 and remanded to police custody till Wednesday.
