A 12 year-old girl who had come to Thane to visit her relatives was allegedly raped by her uncle near Ulhasnagar in Thane
district. The Ulhasnagar police has arrested the accused after the victim’s mother filed a complaint against him Sunday morning.
The rape victim is a resident of Osmanabad. She had come to Ulhasnagar on Friday with her mother during the Diwali vacation.
According to police officials, the victim’s paternal aunt lives in Ulhasnagar. After reaching Ulhasnagar, her aunt’s husband allegedly asked the girl to go Diwali shopping with him and also promised to take her for a Mumbai darshan, the police said.
“On Saturday, the victim accompanied her uncle for shopping and Mumbai darshan. However, he allegedly took her to one of his friend’s flat in the afternoon and raped her,” said a police official.“He then threatened that he would kill her father and mother if she narrated the incident to anyone,” the official added.
According to the police, after the act, he took the girl for shopping although she was suffering from severe pain. He even bought a dress for her and a sari for her mother. Later in the night, when the accused went out with his friends, the girl narrated the incident to her mother and aunt.
The aunt then immediately came to the police station to lodge a complaint against her husband, the police said. A police officer said on the condition of annonymity, “The wife of the accused herself lodged the complaint against him. We have done a medical checkup of the girl and are awaiting the reports. We have also arrested the accused, who has refused to confess.” He further added, “We have also heard that he had earlier molested a few girls near a college area.”
