Malwani police foils armed robbery bid

The Malwani police has arrested three persons who were planning a robbery in the area. Acting on a tip-off, police officials formed a squad and arrested three men while two managed to escape.

The Malwani police has arrested three persons who were planning a robbery in the area. Acting on a tip-off, police officials formed a squad and arrested three men while two managed to escape. The police has recovered a country-made revolver, a bullet, a knife, chilly powder and Sellotape from the accused.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Gauspeer Abdul Rauf Sheikh Alias Batla (30), Bilal Mehandi Hasan Sheikh (29) and Mohammad Siraz Israr Khan (20).

The police has arrested them under Section 399 (Making preparation to commit dacoity) and 402 (Assembling for purpose of committing dacoity) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the police, Batla has 13 cases registered against him in the Malwani and Charkop police station. The police came to know about the plan on November 6, when of a source informed it that a few people were planning to go to Kamal Talab on Marve Road with arms and ammunition. The police then formed a squad and reached the place, where it said it found five people gathered with an intention to commit robbery.
