Five policemen have been transferred in connection with the brutal assault inside the Bandra police station on a 19-year-old Mahim-based teenage boy on October 16.

Five policemen have been transferred in connection with the brutal assault inside the Bandra police station on a 19-year-old Mahim-based teenage boy on October 16.

The development comes after the statement of Asif Sheikh, the victim, was recorded and a report was submitted. A senior police official said “Five policemen — one PI, one constable and 3 PSI — have been transferred, including PI Kedar Pawar, who was held responsible by Sheikh for the brutality unleashed on him.”

According to sources these officials were transferred to LA (local arms) unit on Friday.

“In his statement which was taken in Bhabha hospital where Asif was admitted, Asif named these officials,” a police source said. “According to Asif and Danish, the boy who was accompanying him on October 16, they were helping two drunkards when suddenly 3 to 4 police officials came, asked their name and took them to Bandra police station.

“There, officer Kedar Pawar started beating these boys,” the source added.

Deven Bharti, joint commissioner of police, said, “Five officials have been transferred from Bandra police station as a part of action taken against them after recording Asif Sheikh’s statement.”

Mohammad Hasan Sheikh, Asif’s uncle, said, “As of now, we are not aware about any action which was taken by senior police officials against Kedar Pawar or his colleagues.”

He further said, “Asif is now discharged, but he is suffering from lots of pain and his wounds have not healed yet.”
