The civic body has proposed to deduct the amount from the pension of retired education officer Abasaheb Jadhav for irregularities in the purchase of green-coloured magnet boards during the period 2007 to 2009. Mr Jadhav has also been found guilty in two other cases and the BMC has proposed to cut of Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,000 for a year from his pension in these cases.

According to the civic officials, Mr Jadhav and deputy education officer (retired) Pandurang Patil had directed that 8,228 green-coloured magnet boards be purchased without ascertaining the actual requirement for municipal schools. Due to this, there was excess supply of magnet boards in several schools. It was found that 1,276 boards were bought without necessity and 240 boards are still lying unused. “The allegations are very serious in nature.
