The Deonar police will conduct a DNA test on a mantrik from Nallasopara who was detained in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was found packed in two different suitcases near the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road.

The woman’s body was found on December 15. The mantrik was detained by the police on Friday after they found an amulet near the body. He was detained after the police got a tip-off that the amulet was made by the mantrik. He was released after he was questioned for a few hours. The police has not disclosed his name.

Though he was allowed to leave, the police has doubts over his relationship with the deceased woman, and are planning to conduct a DNA test on him.

Meanwhile, the police has released a sketch of the deceased woman. However, officials said they are still clueless about the identity of the victim.

Gulabrao Patil, police inspector, Deonar police station, said, “The woman could be around 30 to 40 years of age. The body was found 30 hours after the woman’s demise.”

The body was found just two days after the high-profile double murder of artist Hema Upadhyay and her lawyer, packed in a similar manner. It was packed in two different suitcases and found near the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road. One contained the limbs of the body and the other the torso. The police was shocked to find a body similarly disposed just a couple of days after the Upadhyay murder came to light.
