A 29-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Kurar, Malad, on Thursday afternoon. According to police officials, her body was recovered from her house. The police has filled an accidental death report in the matter and further investigation is on.
A police official on the condition of anonymity said, “The woman was depressed as she did not have a child even 10 years after marriage.” According to the information provided by officials, the deceased has been identified as Deepmala Suryavanshi, who used to stay with her husband in a chawl in Kranti Nagar of Kurar. During the time of the incident, Deepmala was alone at home as her husband, who works as a labourer, was out at work. In the afternoon, Deepmala hung herself from the ceiling using a dupatta. When neighbours saw her body hanging from the ceiling, through a window, they informed the police.
According to the police officials, her body was found around 2.45 pm at her house but no suicide note was recovered from the spot. She was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared dead. Kurar police has recorded the statement of her husband and according to him, the couple did not have any children after a decade of marriage and that had driven her into depression. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
