Congress takes on government for failure to curb price of tur dal
After the NCP, Congress has now taken on the Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP government over its failure to curb price of tur dal in the state. The party has termed the skyrocketing prices of tur dal a “preplanned conspiracy” of the BJP government in connivance with some corporate companies to make them the ultimate beneficiary.
The party has even questioned the state government’s claim that 13,000 metric tonnes would be released back in the market with the decision of auctioning confiscated stock, as data from the department of consumer affairs shows that 86,000 metric tonnes of tur dal was seized across the state.
Going at the backfoot over continuous attack from the Opposition parties, the state government on Friday decided to auction stocks of ‘tur dal’ seized from hoarders withdrawing its earlier decision of releasing it back to the traders on indemnity bond. The CMO has even said that the decision would result in releasing 13,000 metric tonnes of tur dal that were seized thus far.
Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant said that the state government has claimed of seizing only 13,000 metric tonnes of tur dal, while the data released by the department of consumer affairs says that 86,000 metric tonnes of tur dal has been seized till November 20 in Maharashtra alone. “Now the question is that 73,000 metric tonnes of tur dal has gone to the pocket of which corporate company ” Mr Sawant asked, taking a swipe at the BJP-led government.
