Cheat ‘tantrik’ arrested for Bhiwandi double murder
The Thane police on Tuesday arrested a tantrik involved in the Bhiwandi double murder case. He had lured the deceased with the promise of multiplying their money and later killed them. The accused, identified as Abdul Ajij Shaikh (40), is said to have confessed his crime before the police.
On October 4, two bloodied bodies were found on a burial ground in Bhiwandi. The police suspected a case of black magic and human sacrifice on the basis of the objects found near the bodies.
An officer from the Bhiwandi police said, “We were trying to ascertain the deceased’s identities for at least three weeks and after constant searching we got their names and located their family. During investigation with their family members we came to know that they were following a certain tantrik. Following that lead, we looked for Shaikh.”
“We started getting the details of Shaikh, but he had changed his name and place of living after committing the crime. We laid a trap and arrested him from his Sewri home. During primary investigation it was revealed that Shaikh killed the two men because he was scared that the duo would inform police about his business,” added the officer.
Shaikh met the two deceased, Anwar Shaikh and Laxman Barman, residents of Bhiwandi, a few years ago and the two victims used to take his advice for every decision. Last year, the tantrik took Rs 50,000 each from them and promised them that it could be multiplied by a mantra that he knew. When he did not return the money or fulfil his promise of multiplying the cash for many months, the deceased threatened to approach the police. The tantrik then killed the duo out of fear, informed the police.
According to the police, Shaikh called them to Amania Saha Takiya Kabristan on the night of October 3, told them to close their eyes and sleep, following which he stabbed them with a knife, a big stone and hammer. He left the place only after assuring they weredead.”
