CBI officials on Friday met senior officials of Mumbai police to get details about the cases involving gangster Chhota Rajan. Senior officials said following official directives from the government they would provide all the concerned documents to the central agency. CBI officials may approach the Enforcement Directorate too to get details in some cases.

On Thursday, after a meeting of senior officials, the Maharashtra government declared that all cases against Chhota Rajan were being transferred to the CBI. Therefore, on Friday two CBI officials visited the Mumbai police headquarters to meet the commissioner of police and senior officials.

Sources said, “During the meeting, other senior officials and CBI discussed details about the cases against Rajan and their status.”

A senior official confirmed, “We have not given any documents to the CBI. Today we discussed about the cases against him and their status. The process of transferring documents will happen only after we receive the official order.”

For the past two weeks, the Mumbai police has been on its toes, working hard to gather details related to cases against Rajan. It has prepared documents and sequences of the cases according to their importance. Now, the Mumbai police will handover these details to the CBI once they receive an official letter from the government.

Apart from this, the CBI is likely to approach the Enforcement Directorate to get details about the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case involving Khushi Developers, Rajan and his three family members.

ED registered the case against PMLA in 2011 against Rajan’s wife. According to the case, the property bought and money involved in the company named Khushi Developers, established by Rajan’s wife, was earned through extortion.
