Body of Mumbra youth found in Navi Mumbai
The Thane crime branch has exhumed the body of a youngster from a hillock close to Digha Dam in Navi Mumbai. The youth, one Shabbir Shaikh from Mumbra, had gone missing since April. The police is expected to dig out the body of another youth, Sohail Qureshi, who had also gone missing along with the deceased.
Ever since the two youngsters went missing in April, Mr Qureshi’s mother Farida Khatun had been running from pillar to post to find her son and had eventually concluded that her son might have been killed. This forced police to hand over the case to Crime Branch which took one of the suspects into custody.
On Tuesday night, the Crime Branch recovered a body from the spot indicated by the arrested accused. The body turned out to be that of Mr Shaikh, as identified by his mother. The police are now likely to dig out Mr Qureshi’s body which was buried just a few metres away.
The police on Wednesday told media persons that one of the accused, Deepak alias Sam Valmiki, was allegedly having a love affair with Mr Shaikh’s sister to which Mr Shaikh took exception, which is why Mr Valmiki planned to kill him. However, Mr Qureshi happened to be with Mr Shaikh and so, Mr Valmiki killed him as well, burying both bodies at some distance from each other.
