Mumbai: State housing minister Jitendra Awhad Thursday announced that 10 per cent of MHADA houses would be reserved for the state police henceforth. The policy would be implemented in all upcoming projects of MHADA, he said.

On Thursday, Mr Awhad visited Patra Chawl in Goregaon, which is being redeveloped. While speaking to the media, he assured that redevelopment of Patra Chawl would start very soon and hurdles in the project would be removed as soon as possible. He assured the people that they would get their pending home rents as well.

He said that 10 per cent homes would be reserved for the police. He also said that hereon, all details of developers would be checked. Mr Awhad was speaking about projects involving MHADA, housing societies and developers that were pending and incomplete for various reasons. Many cooperative housing projects had not been completed because of the incompetence of developers. He also spoke about incomplete projects of the MHADA cooperative housing society.

Speaking about the recently appointed one-member committee of Johny Joseph, he said that the report on Patra Chawl was expected within the next 15 days.
