It is being speculated that the brain behind Raj’s campaigning and role of MNS as a disruptor in state politics is NCP chief Sharad Pawar.

Mumbai: To the surprise and discomfort of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has emerged as the chief campaigner for the Opposition in this election. Though Raj Thackeray himself has not fielded any candidate for the Lok Sabha elections, his new style of campaigning against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP by showing video clips of old speeches and claims, has rattled the BJP.

Though the BJP has decided not to give too much importance to the MNS chief, the party state unit has started responding to Mr Thackeray by uploading old videos related to MNS on social media.

One of the videos posted on the twitter handle of the Maharashtra BJP shows hawkers from Dombivali claiming that an MNS corporator takes hafta from them.

In another video, a local woman activist of the MNS is seen stealing sarees from a shop. The BJP has posted these videos with a message “We too have videos”.

Recently, the BJP said that a video shown by Mr Thackeray in his rally on the digitalised Harisal village, was shot in October 2018 and played in April 2019.

It is being speculated that the brain behind Raj’s campaigning and role of MNS as a disruptor in state politics is NCP chief Sharad Pawar.

Mr Thackeray has exten-ded his full support to the Congress-NCP and is calling his followers to vote against the BJP and urging them to have a BJP-free country. Mr Thacke-ray has announced nine public rallies for the Lok Sabha polls, of which, the rallies in Mumbai, Latur, Kolhapur, Satara and Pune have seen overwhelming public respon-se.

In every rally Raj played old speeches and then questioned the claims made in the video by BJP. Most of the videos are featuring PM Modi. The BJP has rubbished all claims made by Raj in the rallies.
