Having a green home means one has a happy and healthy space. Indoor plants have been in vogue for some time. However, the demand has increased as our surroundings get polluted day by day, making it difficult to find fresh air. And, keeping indoor plants has become a costly affair. Here are the five best indoor plants one can source from the courtyard.

Ferns:

This moisture-loving, quickly-growing plant has two varieties — boston fern and foxtail fern. While foxtail can bear medium sunlight, boston prefers minimum light or no light at all. Bathroom is one ideal space for ferns to grow.

Rubber Plant:

It grows slow and steady, but in big size. If you want to keep it short, trim at regular intervals. Moist soil with no harsh sunlight is the ideal ambience for its growth.

Peace Lilly:

Peace Lilly grows peacefully in balcony as it loves semi-bright space and hates regular watering. Too much of moisture will leave the tips of its big leaves brown and gradually they decay.

Croton:

Colours of crotons can bring a cheery mood. Available in different species, each one bears unique shades. Croton finds it easy in both dark and bright spots. However, if the requirement is bright and colourful croton, put it in sun-lit space in moist soil.

Money Plant:

Most common plants in interior décor, it grows in water and soil. For quicker growth, put it in dry soil. Like crotons, money plants too can survive dark and light areas. The shade will slightly vary according to the availability of light.

Add plants according to the lighting of your space. Don’t shift these plants immediately to inside. For the first few days, shift them between inside and outside for a few hours to help them get adapted to the new environment. Then, gradually shift them inside.
