Using protection while having sex is an important practice, but sometimes things can go wrong despite taking all necessary precautions. Condoms may be meant for safe sex, but people need to be ready for unforeseen consequences that may leave them in a tricky situation.

Although there are several things to be kept in mind while using a condom, there isn’t much information on dealing with a condom stuck inside you. Here are few steps which may help in an embarrassing yet grave situation.

Remaining calm

While not losing your cool is a generic advice for any crisis, here it serves another crucial purpose as well. Tension actually causes contraction of the vagina or anal passage which naturally makes it difficult to remove the condom from inside.

The idea is to take your mind off the condom and use the time to relax bringing attention back to the issue.

Use your fingers

Trying to feel the condom with fingers after squatting or getting on all fours can be a good start here. After that the condom can be hooked lower down and if possible, pulled out using two fingers.

Also never use anything else apart from fingers for the purpose as use of sharp objects can pose the risk of serious injuries to the vagina.

Pushing it out

If the fingertips can’t feel the condom; it means some pushing is required to get it out. Activating muscles used during childbirth may help here and doing it in a squatting position makes it more effective.

Also doing it to the point where one gets frustrated is not advisable since that would cause tension and makes things harder.

Involve your partner

If someone got the condom stuck inside in the first place, then they can certainly help get it out. This way it’s much better as the person has a better view of what’s happening and can gently pull it out.

Some professional assistance

Although the situation is definitely embarrassing, going to a professional should be an option instead of struggling with a condom inside for hours. They have the required expertise and tools needed to safely extract it.

Making sure you are safe

It’s highly likely that the condom came off during intercourse and got stuck inside. In this case one must take a pill to prevent pregnancy and also get a sexual health check up to make sure they don’t have any infections.
