‘Shed holier than thou attitude to end conflict’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said shedding the “holier-than-thou” attitude is the key to resolving conflicts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said shedding the “holier-than-thou” attitude is the key to resolving conflicts.
Blaming “expansionism” for conflicts, he said one of the major issues faced worldwide is “conflict management” but Indians know how to resolve the conflict as he cited mythology.
“We inherit conflict management skills. We are those people who worship Lord Ram for his obedience and loyalty towards his father and Prahlad who disobeyed his father,” he said while releasing the 51-point “Simhastha Declaration” which sought to prohibit “commodification of females in advertising” while pressing for statutory representation of women at all levels of democracy and stated to include study of spiritualisation in education curriculum, among others.
Addressing the valedictory session of the three-day international conference on “Living the Right Way” on the sidelines of the Simhastha Kumbh mela, he said it’s the time to rise from within.
“Time has changed. We have to go vertical and not horizontal and raise ourselves. For the youth of the 21st century, these 51 points are important,” the Prime Minister said.
“Those who call us unorganised, I tell them to use the Kumbh as a case study. People have gathered from everywhere here in huge numbers without any invitation. They take the holy dip together, eat together, stay together. This is an example of perfect management,” he said.
Welcoming the declaration, Indian mystic Jaggi Vasudev commonly known as Sadhguru said “it is important to work together if we have to take the nation forward”.
During the occasion Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan announced of a new “ministry of happiness” in MP.
