Congress legislator from Jharsuguda, Naba Kishore Das, was on Monday caught unawares by television cameras while allegedly watching porn during Question Hour in the Assembly. The ruling BJD, which has been in the Congress and BJP’s firing line on the farmer suicide issue for the last two months, immediately latched on to the development to launch a counter-offensive on the Congress by demanding the expulsion of Mr Das from the House. “It is highly indecent on the part of Congress MLA Naba Kishore Das to watch obscene content in the Assembly. He has not only disrespected female lawmakers of the Assembly but also all the women in the state. We demand strong action against him... he should be declared disqualified as a member of the House,” BJD MLA Pramila Mallick said. The Congress legislator in an apparent bid to save his face, said, “I don’t know the proper use of smartphone. While browsing through my homepage, my finger inadvertently touched the YouTube application which led to opening of some objectionable content.”

Stating that there was conspiracy to defame, Mr Das added that he would furnish a written clarification to Speaker Niranjan Pujari.
