Versatility is the key to be a successful artist. Every creative mind needs to multi-skilled in the field of art. One such multi-faceted personality in the art industry is Bagio White who is known for his spectacular work of art. He is the creative director of ‘DOPENESS’ magazine where he creates artistic editorials in the print form as well as the digital form. He was born in Jamaica and his parents have been into the restaurant business for quite a long time now. However, he was always intrigued by the art and since school days, White loved to do sketching and doodling. While he was in Jamaica, his parents initially couldn’t afford to buy him a laptop. To fulfil his desire, he made a laptop out of cardboard and drew the screen pretending that he has got one.
However, he never knew that digital art existed until he moved to the USA in 2001. He improved his art skills by rigorous practice and by participating in a lot of art online challenges. While Bagio was in high school, Bagio got his first internship with Def Jam Recordings where he learnt a lot about art and craft. While interning with him, he got an opportunity to design a draft album cover sample for Rihanna’s Good Girl Gone Bad album. During that time, he even learnt about art from huge media giants including GQ, Vogue and Complex. His visual yet interactive designs have impressed many celebrities including King Bach, Amanda Cerny, Angela Yee, Bow Wow, August Alsina among others.
Besides this, he has collaborated with many media companies like Viacom, Universal Records and BET. Art is a vast field and has got a healthy competition. Speaking about how he tackles with the competition, he says, “Honestly there are a lot of awesome creative directors and designers in my field, and I welcome the competition. I love seeing the work of other creatives, a few of them even inspire some of my work and it’s a big playground. I always try to stay sharper than most with my art form.” Bagio White’s style of art has established his name as one of the best creative minds in the industry today.
