Woman raped in Mehrauli, 1 held

A 28-year-old woman working as a domestic help was allegedly gangraped by three persons in south Delhi’s Mehrauli area on the pretext of providing her a job.

A 28-year-old woman working as a domestic help was allegedly gangraped by three persons in south Delhi’s Mehrauli area on the pretext of providing her a job. However, senior police officials were tight-lipped over the matter and did not divulge any information.

A police source privy to the investigation said that the incident happened on November 17 and a case had been lodged after they received a complaint from the victim.

The police source said that the accused businessman, identified as Monu Kumar, deals with crockery items.

The woman in her complaint at the Mehrauli police station said that she worked as a domestic maid. She was called by a man on her mobile phone who wished to employ her.

When she agreed, the accused came on his scooter to pick her up and show his house in Raj Nagar locality of Mehrauli. When she went to his house, the man allegedly raped her, the woman stated in her complaint, said a senior police officer. The woman also alleged that the accused was also accompanied by two of his friends, who also raped her.

He first offered her job with a handsome salary but later raped her along with his friends. The accused and his friends also threatened her not to reveal the incident to anyone or to face dire consequence. The woman left the house and called the PCR.

On the complaint of the victim, an FIR was registered under relevant Sections of law at Mehrauli police station and she was sent for medical check up which proved rape.

The accused was arrested from his house while his accomplices managed to escape. A manhunt has been launched to arrest the other accused.
