Teen beaten to death by six over petty issue
An 18-year-old boy was thrashed to death by six youth, including a juvenile, following an argument over a petty issue at a camp near the Okhla Industrial Area in southeast Delhi.
The incident happened last Monday after which the boy, identified as Suraj Kumar, was admitted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
The police has arrested one of the accused, identified as Raja, and filed a case of murder against him and his associates. Search is on to trace the other accused, said a senior police official.
“Suraj had an argument with his neighbours, Akshay and Raja, over blocking a lane outside their hutment, following which the accused attacked him with stones and iron rods. Hearing screams of Suraj, his brother tried to intervene and he was also thrashed. The accused then fled from the spot,” said the official.
Suraj was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where he underwent a surgery and succumbed to his injuries Saturday morning. His body was handed over to the family members after an autopsy.
During interrogation, Raja told the police that Suraj often abused him and his friend Akshay and that they killed him in a fit of rage. The police is now on a look out for the other accused. Suraj stayed with his two siblings at the Indira Camp after their parents passed away three years ago. He was pursuing his BA from a South Delhi college.
